Hailing from a picturesque town in the heart of old Europe, Kristýna always grew up somewhat in the shadow of her older sister, Karolina. Even as a teenager, Karolina was collecting fame and victories in various beauty contests (Winter Queen of Andoria, Miss Fancy Nose on Bajor, and others...) and later became a literal sex symbol and the most famous plus-size model in the Alpha Quadrant.
Kristýna never envied her famous sister. She had more peace and time for her passion, which was inventing things. No matter what, her ambition was simply to leave her mark on the history of science.
She succeeded - in her own way.
Shortly after graduating from the Faculty of Non-Mechanical Engineering in Tartu, she invented a new type of steam engine with an efficiency of over 80%, something unheard of in the entire history of internal combustion engines. A truly revolutionary invention, if it had come five hundred years earlier. However, in the age of antimatter fission and warp cores, this unique discovery was an outdated affair, and Kristýna only became famous in narrow circles of eccentrics and geeks. An obscure group of fans even built a unique supersonic jet-powered locomotive equipped with her steam engine, named it the Crimson Kolbenka, and enjoyed some success with it on tourist trips across the Martian plains.
Such a mark in history satisfied Kristýna very little. She did not give up and soon came up with another contribution to the world of science and technology. These were holographic airbags. The principle was to embed emitters in the seats of the fleet's ships. In the event of a collision or shipwreck, the emitter would activate and create a protective holographic cushion in front of the user to mitigate the impact. In reality, all experts know that the forces acting due to acceleration and deceleration on the fleet's ships are of such a nature that if the inertial dampeners failed, even by a thousandth of a percent, all crew members would instantly be turned into whipped cream regardless of any belts or safety features. But even the apparent safety of space explorers looks good to the public, so the ROHF (Revolutionary Union of the Starfleet) in particular welcomed the installation of holoairbags with enthusiasm.
Even this is not how the young scientist envisioned her legacy, so she decided to focus the power of her genius on the universe itself. She joined the fleet and took the position of assistant science officer on the U.S.S. Trnava. After several "guaranteed" scientific discoveries that ultimately did not quite meet expectations, the captain ceased to trust her judgment. Therefore, to prove the truth of her latest claim, Kristýna has no choice but to steal her own ship from the dock and head towards the galactic barrier.
Character:
Kristýna lives for science and pushing the boundaries of human understanding. She truly sacrifices as much as she can for her profession, which she sees more as a mission. Over time, she too admits that her theories and ideas are sometimes too unconventional. In scientific circles, the name Kristýna Kolbenová has definitely become a household name, but rather than the new Tesla, she is more like the new Jára Cimrman - a master of dead ends.
Note: Jára Cimrman is a fictional Czech figure, often described as a polymath who made significant contributions to various fields, but whose work has been largely overlooked or forgotten. He is often used as a humorous way to reference obscure or forgotten historical figures or events.
